New Delhi, Dec 23 (.) Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid tribute to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary on Tuesday, hailing him as the “messiah of farmers, the poor, and the deprived.”
“On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Charan Singh Ji, who is known as the messiah of farmers, the poor, and the deprived, I pay my respectful obeisance to him,” she said in a post on X.
Priyanka Gandhi also extended her congratulations and best wishes to all the farmer brothers of the country on Farmer’s Day. Chaudhary Charan Singh’s contributions to the welfare of farmers and the poor continue to inspire the nation, she noted.
Chaudhary Charan Singh was a champion of farmers’ rights and played a pivotal role in shaping India’s agricultural policies during his tenure as Prime Minister from 1979 to 1980.
