New Delhi, Dec 23 (.) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary, hailing him as a champion of farmers’ rights and welfare.
“A grateful nation can never forget his contributions to nation-building,” Modi said in a post on X.
Chaudhary Charan Singh, India’s fifth Prime Minister, dedicated his life to the welfare of the underprivileged and the progress of agriculture, Modi noted. His efforts to strengthen rural India and empower the agricultural community continue to inspire the nation.
Chaudhary Charan Singh was born in 1902 in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district and served as Prime Minister from 1979 to 1980. He was a strong advocate for farmers’ rights and played a key role in shaping India’s agricultural policies.
