Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 29 (.) The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has elected a new set of office-bearers, marking the beginning of a renewed push to strengthen cricket infrastructure and player development across the state.
Former KCA office-bearer Sreejith V. Nair was elected President, succeeding Jayesh George, whose term has concluded. K. Satheeshan has been appointed Vice President.
Continuity was ensured in key administrative positions, with Vinod S. Kumar continuing as Secretary and Bineesh Kodiyeri retaining the post of Joint Secretary.
T. Ajith Kumar, formerly Secretary of the Palakkad District Cricket Association, has taken charge as Treasurer, while T. Muhammad Naufal of the Kasaragod District Cricket Association was elected as the General Body representative to the Apex Council. The new leadership was chosen at the Association’s 75th Annual General Body meeting held here.
Addressing the meeting, the newly elected leadership outlined a comprehensive development roadmap aimed at improving cricket facilities in all 14 districts of Kerala.
The plan includes the construction of new grounds, upgrading existing infrastructure, and providing modern amenities for players at the grassroots and elite levels.
The KCA also announced its intention to pursue discussions with the State Government for the construction of a new international-standard cricket stadium in Kochi, along with long-term arrangements for the use and development of major venues.
As part of its efforts to promote women’s cricket, the Association revealed plans to launch a Kerala Women’s Premier League. In addition, KCA cricket academies are proposed in Idukki and Thiruvananthapuram to nurture young talent through structured coaching and high-performance training.
The leadership further emphasised strengthening the existing high-performance centre by integrating sports science, advanced coaching methods, fitness support, and rehabilitation facilities to help Kerala cricketers compete successfully at national and international levels.
