Washington, Dec 31 (.) Danny Ramirez will not return as a lead in ‘The Last of Us’ season 3, Deadline reports.
The actor, who played Manny Alvarez alongside Kaitlyn Dever in four episodes of Season 2, has dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
HBO’s hit adaptation of the video game, co-created and directed by Neil Druckmann, was renewed for a third season even before the second season premiered last April.
Season 2’s finale hinted that Season 3 would revisit three intense days, this time from Abby’s (Kaitlyn Dever) perspective.
“We haven’t seen the last of Kaitlyn Dever, and we haven’t seen the last of Bella Ramsey, and we haven’t seen the last of Isabela Merced, and we haven’t seen the last of a lot of people who are currently dead in the story,” said series co-creator Craig Mazin in an interview with Deadline.
In July, it was announced that ‘Druckmann’ would step back from directing and writing Season 3 episodes but will continue as co-creator and executive producer.
Mazin also promised that the upcoming season will answer key questions about the story, including the origins of the Seraphites, the Prophet, Isaac’s motives, and the mysterious events at the end of Episode 7.
Ramirez is slated to appear next year in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as ‘The Falcon’ (Joaquin Torres), Deadline adds.
