Los Angeles, Jan 1 (.) Walton Goggins recently experienced a sense of déjà vu while working on “Fallout” as the series brought him back together with Jon Gries, his former “White Lotus” co-star.
Far removed from the opulence of “White Lotus” sets, the two actors reunite in the harsh setting of a post-apocalyptic drama, reports DEADLINE.
The reunion takes place in the episode titled The Profligate, now streaming, where Gries appears as Biff, a Soldier aligned with the New California Republic.
“Jon is a very dear friend of mine,” Goggins said on the red carpet. “And whenever you work with someone like Mike White, or anybody that you don’t know in that community of actors or crew, whenever you come across them, it’s like family.”
Goggins noted, “And Jon just happened to be a friend of mine long before we did that, so it was so good to see him.”
In Season 3 of The White Lotus, which recently earned Goggins his first Golden Globe nomination, his troubled traveller Rick reluctantly has dinner with Gries’ Gary after their significant others Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) and Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) strike up a friendship. Before running off to Thailand, Gary went by Greg, marrying heiress Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) before seemingly orchestrating her death.
In Fallout, Goggins portrays The Ghoul, a solitary figure wandering through a broken landscape shaped by catastrophe. He described the character as fundamentally isolated, driven by a longing for family rather than allegiance to any faction. On the other side of a calamity, different political parties are formed, different affiliations are made, and one just tries to remake it the way that one wants to see it run.
