New Delhi, Dec 3 (.) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid homage to social reformer and educationist Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary.

He said in his social media post on X that she was a pioneering figure who dedicated her life to social transformation through education and service.

In his post, the Prime Minister said Savitribai Phule was deeply committed to the principles of equality, justice and compassion.

He described her as a firm believer in education as the most powerful instrument of social change, noting that her efforts were focused on transforming lives through knowledge and learning.

Modi also highlighted Savitribai Phule’s work in caring for the vulnerable, calling it a significant aspect of her legacy.

He said her life and ideals continue to inspire generations in the pursuit of a more just and inclusive society.

Savitribai Phule is regarded as one of India’s foremost social reformers and was a pioneer of women’s education in the country, having played a key role in establishing schools for girls and marginalised communities in the 19th century.
