New Delhi, Jan 4 (.) India on Sunday expressed “deep concern” over the recent developments in Venezuela and announced that it is closely monitoring the evolving security situation in the South American nation.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the government reaffirmed its commitment to the well-being and safety of the people of Venezuela and urged all parties to resolve the crisis peacefully through dialogue, maintaining regional peace and stability.

The statement also assured that the Embassy of India in Caracas remains in contact with the Indian community and will continue to provide all necessary assistance during this turbulent period.

This announcement follows an urgent travel advisory issued by the MEA on Saturday, warning Indian nationals against all non-essential travel to Venezuela. The advisory urged Indians currently in the country to remain vigilant, avoid public gatherings, stay indoors, and limit local travel for their safety.

The advisory comes in response to a dramatic escalation in Venezuela’s security situation, triggered by pre-dawn US airstrikes targeting key military installations, including the Fuerte Tiuna military complex in Caracas. US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces had conducted a “large-scale strike” and claimed the capture and removal of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

The MEA has provided specific contact details for its nationals in Venezuela, including an emergency hotline and embassy email, urging them to maintain communication:

    Email: cons.caracas@mea.gov.in

Emergency Hotline (calls and WhatsApp): 58-412-9584288

The situation has attracted global attention, with other major powers such as China and the United Kingdom also issuing warnings and closely observing the risks of a potential power vacuum or civil conflict in Venezuela.

President Trump has indicated that maintaining control over Venezuela “until transition” is achieved and stated at a press conference, “We are not afraid of boots on the ground,” signaling possible further military involvement.

The MEA has also said it is monitoring the situation and is ready to provide timely updates as the regional security environment develops. . SKA .
