Los Angeles, Jan 8 (.) Marking actor Yash’s birthday, the makers of ‘Toxic – A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ have unveiled a character introduction video revealing ‘Raya’, portrayed by the actor.
The reveal follows the earlier announcement of the film’s female ensemble cast, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria, setting the tone for a strongly character-driven narrative before introducing its central protagonist, as reported by Variety.
The newly released video opens in a graveyard before swiftly transitioning into intense action. Gunshots pierce the silence as Raya emerges through clouds of smoke, wielding a tommy gun. The visuals establish a dark, gritty aesthetic and hint at the film’s scale and cinematic ambition.
Expanding on footage released during Yash’s birthday last year, the video offers a deeper glimpse into the film’s action-heavy world and visual style.
Taking on the project as actor, co-writer and co-producer, Yash’s role in Toxic marks a creative leap as he experiments within an international storytelling framework.
Yash, who rose to pan-Indian fame with the blockbuster K.G.F franchise, is among the most in-demand stars in Indian cinema. His portrayal of Rocky Bhai in ‘K.G.F: Chapter 1’ (2018) and ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ (2022) transformed him into a larger-than-life action icon, with the second installment ranking as the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
Prior to this success, Yash had showcased his range in Kannada films such as Googly (2013) and Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari (2014).
Written by Yash and director Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic – A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and other languages.
The film boasts an acclaimed technical team, including National Award-winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, composer Ravi Basrur, editor Ujwal Kulkarni and production designer T.P. Abid.
Action sequences are choreographed by Hollywood stunt director J.J. Perry (John Wick), along with National Film Award-winning action directors Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee.
Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, ‘Toxic – A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, coinciding with Eid, Ugadi and Gudi Padwa celebrations.
