Bengaluru, Jan 9 (.) Top seed Pedro Martinez advanced to the singles final of the 10th Dafa News Bengaluru Open 2026 after a 7-6(4), 6-1 win over France’s Martin Martineau at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium here today.
Martineau started strongly, breaking Martinez in the sixth game, but the Spaniard immediately broke back and steadied his game. A closely contested first set went to a tie-break, where Martinez capitalised on Martineau’s unforced errors to take the set.
He carried that momentum into the second, breaking Martineau twice to seal a straight-sets victory. “Martineau started playing at a really good level. In the tie-break, I made more returns and played better. That was the difference,” said Martinez, world No. 96, after the match.
In the Doubles semifinals, the French pair of Arthur Reymond and Luca Sanchez defeated top seeds N Sriram Balaji and Neil Oberleitner 7-6(4), 7-6(3) in a thrilling contest.
The match featured early breaks, tightly contested rallies, and two tie-breaks, with Reymond and Sanchez proving sharper in crucial moments. They will face the energetic duo of Nicolas Barrientos (Colombia) and Benjamin Kittay (USA), who overcame the Dutch team of Max Houkes and Niels Visker 7-6(6), 6-3.
The second Singles Finalist will be decided later, as second seed Harold Mayot is set to face Kazakhstan’s Timofey Skatov.
