Visakhapatnam, Jan 9 (.) Vijaya Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), on Friday praised the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) for effectively overcoming challenges and sustaining strong performance amid stiff competition.
During his visit to the port, Vijaya Kumar reviewed its performance and ongoing developmental initiatives.
A comprehensive review meeting was held to assess PPP berths, cargo handling operations, financial performance, road and rail connectivity, PM Gati Shakti projects, modernization and mechanization of berths, flyover development, modernization of the Fishing Harbour, and Green Port initiatives.
Vijaya Kumar also visited the Visakha Container Terminal Private Limited (VCTPL) and reviewed the functioning of the container scanning facility.
He stressed the need for systematic planning to enhance cargo throughput and emphasized discipline and dedication among employees for the growth of the organization and the nation.
Earlier, he was accorded a warm reception by Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chairperson, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, and Ms. Roshni Aparanji Korati, Deputy Chairperson.
The Chairperson briefed the Secretary on port operations, recent achievements, and future plans.
