New Delhi, Jan 10 (.) More than 8,000 youth will be part of the Rajasthan police force soon, helping in ensuring the people’s safety, said Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, terming it an important day for the state’s law and order setup.
Shah, who addressed a ceremony of presenting appointment letters to the newly appointed constables of Rajasthan Police, said from here, they would begin their training and would further devote the rest of their lives to serving the state and its people.
He stated with the young individuals receiving their uniforms, it is a moment of new hope for their families as the law and order system in the state moves to add to its force. Shah pointed that out of the total 8,000 appointment letters, 2500 were women constables.
Meanwhile, Ratannagar police station in Churu district was honoured as the best police station in Rajasthan.
According to Shah, the state government has provided police jobs to the newly recruited youths purely on the basis of their strength, capability, and merit. The process reflects transparency, elimination of corruption, and respect for merit, he added.
Shah said any state can progress only when it provides opportunities to meritorious youths, where the recruitment is through a completely transparent manner.
He appreciated efforts of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, saying that he brought an end to the series of paper leaks that were allegedly happening during the Opposition’s government.
Shah said on the one side, the state has a 1070-km international border with Pakistan, the rugged ravines of Chambal, and the vast Thar desert, on the other, there are well- known tourist destinations, forts and palaces, and natural wildlife sanctuaries. These vast stretches need a competent police force, he added.
Shah said after formation of the Bhajan Lal government, crimes witnessed a decline by approximately 14 per cent, and serious crimes by 19 per cent.
He said Rajasthan has achieved a reduction of 25 per cent in murders, 19 per cent in attempts to murder, 10 per cent in atrocities against women, 28 per cent in atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, 47 per cent in dacoity, and 51 per cent in robbery.
Shah stated that Rajasthan Police has undertaken several new initiatives under the leadership of CM Bhajan Lal, that include modernisation of the force.
He also pointed that the current recruitment will comprise the first batch of police personnel joining the state police after the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The HM stated that new criminal laws have been created to fulfill the guarantee of protection of life, property, and dignity to citizens enshrined by the Constitution.
