Hyderabad, Jan 10 (UN) Telangana aims to emerge as a global “Innovation Capital,” with Artificial Intelligence (AI), research-driven innovation, and ethical technology use at its core, said IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
Speaking at the BITS Alumni Association Global Meet 2026 at BITS Pilani–Hyderabad on Saturday, Sridhar stressed that technology should extend beyond academic degrees to serve national priorities and the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
Highlighting India’s Digital Public Infrastructure, such as Aadhaar and UPI, as a global model, he noted that Telangana has taken the lead with its AI-enabled Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX), the first initiative of its kind in the country.
Plans for a Telangana AI Innovation Hub and AI University are expected to set benchmarks for other States, he said.
Sridhar called for a focus on data privacy, ethics, and responsible AI, urging companies to strengthen research and development.
He said future business success would rely on robust system architecture, data ownership, faster decision-making, and public trust, while the job market would increasingly value creative problem solvers over coding skills alone.
He emphasised that AI benefits must reach rural areas, addressing challenges in agriculture, education, and healthcare.
The Minister invited BITS Pilani alumni to collaborate in advancing Telangana’s vision of innovation and AI-driven growth.
