New Delhi, Jan 15(.) India’ s highest ranked men’s singles player Lakshya Sen beat Japan’s Nishimoto kenta to reach the quarter finals of the Yonex Sunrise India Open 2026 at the Indira Gandhi stadium here on Thursday.
Paris Olympics semi finalist Lakshya Sen suffered early jitters in the first game and fell behind at the start but found his mojo to win convincingly in the end.
After falling being 14-18 in the first game Lakshya rallied to take first game 21-19.
Once he found his rhythm, the world number 13, won the second game 21-10.
Lakshya will be the only Indian Singles player in the quarter finals.
Sen shared his thoughts with the media after the match
“He was playing very solid, was not giving any easy points, as per my Coach’s directions I started lifting more and tightened my defence, that helped. From the second game onwards I concentrated on changing the pace constantly.”
