Navi Mumbai, Jan 15 (.) Harleen Deol’s blazing 64 not out guided UP Warriorz Women to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians Women in the 8th match of the Women’s Premier League 2026 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy on Wednesday.
Opting to field after winning the toss, UP restricted Mumbai Indians to 161 for 5 in 20 overs. Nat Sciver-Brunt played a commanding innings of 65 off 43 balls, while Amanjot Kaur contributed 38, adding stability to the top order. Harmanpreet Kaur chipped in with a brisk 16 off 11 deliveries.
Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, Sophie Ecclestone, and Asha Sobhana Joy shared the wickets, keeping MI’s scoring in check, but Mumbai struggled to accelerate at crucial stages, reaching a total at just over eight runs per over.
Chasing 162, UP Warriorz Women started steadily but lost two early wickets as Meg Lanning (25) and Kiran Navgire (10) fell to Nat Sciver-Brunt. Phoebe Litchfield (25) provided support, and the innings gained momentum through the masterful performance of Harleen.
She combined power, timing, and aggressive stroke play, reaching her 50 in just 30 balls. Chloe Tryon’s 27 not out off 11 deliveries provided the finishing flourish. Their 44-run partnership effectively sealed the match, and UP Warriorz achieved the target in 18.1 overs at a run rate of 8.92.
The innings also benefited from smart running between the wickets and disciplined support from the middle order. Extras contributed 11 runs, including 5 wides and a no-ball, reflecting some pressure from the Mumbai bowlers. Amelia Kerr managed to pick up one key wicket, but Deol remained unshaken throughout the chase.
UP Warriorz captain Meg Lanning praised Deol’s innings, saying, “Harleen played a brilliant knock under pressure, keeping the scoreboard ticking and ensuring we had the momentum. Her shot selection and timing were top-class.”
The win lifts UP Warriorz Women in the WPL 2026 points table, while Mumbai Indians Women will look to bounce back in their next outing.
