New Delhi, Jan 20(.): The Indian Golf Union(IGU) has reiterated the legal standing of its governing body elected on 15.12.2024 as the sole National Sports Federation (NSF) for golf in India.
In an advisory issued on Monday, the IGU noted that certain unauthorized individuals, specifically a faction falsely claiming to be the office bearers of the IGU, are circulating misleading communications regarding selection trials, coaching camps, and participation in upcoming international events, including the Asian Games 2026.
This letter advises the golfers to disregard and not entertain any communication, directive, or selection notice from any other body or individual other than the officially recognized IGU office located at 14, Anand Lok, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi.
The IGU said that the governing body elected on December 2024 is the solely recognized body by International Golf Federation (IGF), the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and High Court of Delhi.
The Advisory, signed by Director General, IGU Maj Gen Bibhuti Bhushan noted that only the NSF is authorized to select players and hold coaching camps for international events.
