New Delhi, Jan 20 (.) AAP MLA and former Delhi CM Atishi visited the family of Rachna Yadav in Shalimar Bagh on Tuesday, following Yadav’s recent murder. Yadav was the president of a local residents’ welfare association.
During her visit, Atishi expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and criticized the current state of law and order in the national Capital. She cited Yadav’s killing, which occurred in broad daylight not far from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s residence, as a prominent example of deteriorating security.
Atishi stated that Rachna Yadav had been a key eyewitness in the murder case of her husband three years ago and was testifying against alleged gangsters in court. The AAP leader questioned the safety of witnesses and citizens, noting that the incident took place within the Chief Minister’s own assembly constituency.
“The police station was near the scene, yet there was a delay in moving the body for postmortem,” Atishi told media. She listed several recent incidents, including murders in Kalyanpuri and Shalimar Bagh, a blast near the Red Fort, and a shootout in Pitampura, to voice her concerns.
She called upon Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to address the situation, asking, “the whole world watches our Capital. Where are they? What are they busy with?”
Atishi added that she has sought a meeting with the Home Minister to discuss the law and order issue, hoping for urgent steps to improve public safety.
