New Delhi, Jan 21 (.) On the occasion of Republic Day, to bolster security arrangements and nab terror suspects, the Delhi police will use Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based smart glasses.
These glasses will be equipped with a facial recognition system directly linked to the police criminal database, enabling on-the-spot identification of suspects or wanted criminals.
These smart glasses will scan an individual’s face in crowded areas and match it with police records within seconds.
As soon as a match is found, an instant alert will be sent to the police personnel wearing the glasses, allowing for immediate action.
“This technology will expedite the on-ground identification process and reduce reliance on manual checks. It will enhance both the vigilance and response capability of the deployed personnel,” said the official.
This initiative is part of Delhi Police’s broader technology-based security strategy, which includes CCTV camera surveillance, drone monitoring, facial recognition software, and AI-based analytics.
Police personnel deployed at the parade route, entry points, public viewing areas, and transit hubs will use these smart glasses.
The police said that this measure will ensure heightened security and smooth arrangements during the Republic Day celebrations. . ATK . .
