Los Angeles, Jan 21 (.) Taylor Swift is said to have expressed sharp criticism of “It Ends With Us” director Justin Baldoni, going to the extent of using abusive language in private text exchanges with Blake Lively.
While discussing the pending New York Times bombshell exposé about Baldoni and Lively’s feud, Swift wrote to Lively, “I think this … knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin.”
A year earlier, Lively referred to Baldoni as the “doofus director of my movie” in a message to Swift, adding that he is a “clown” who “thinks he’s a writer now.”
A new set of court submissions released this week has renewed the controversy surrounding the film, including allegations from Lively and several co-stars accusing Baldoni of inappropriate behaviour on set.
The documents further reveal that severe creative disagreements prompted Lively to prepare her own cut of the film. In a sworn declaration, she asserted that Baldoni’s cut diminished the agency of its female characters and presented the central abusive relationship in a manner she found deeply problematic.
Lively also refused to appear alongside Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath while promoting the film, accusing them of vilifying her as punishment for her complaints, reports VARIETY.
“They painted themselves as the victims and me as a bully,” she stated. “I was not willing to endorse Baldoni or Heath personally by appearing alongside or promoting the Film with them.”
Lively sued Baldoni, his publicist and the “It Ends with Us” producers for harassment and retaliation. The case will go to trial on May 18. Baldoni’s team filed a motion to dismiss the case, claiming that Lively’s complaints are “minor grievances.” A hearing on that motion will take place on Thursday. . . .
