Washington, Jan 22 (.) Mark Wahlberg and Riz Ahmed are set to headline the upcoming thriller ‘The Big Fix’, with Baltasar Kormákur attached to direct, according to Deadline.
The script is being written by Guy Bolton and Justin Haythe, while Kormákur will also produce alongside Peter Chernin and David Ready under the Chernin banner. Inspired by true events, ‘The Big Fix’ centers on a former Interpol officer now stuck in a bureaucratic post at FIFA who stumbles upon a sprawling international match-fixing operation.
As he digs deeper, he targets a driven hustler working with Chinese Triads to rig football matches for massive profits. What follows is a fast-paced, globe-trotting game of cat and mouse as the two men close in on each other.
The project marks another collaboration between Kormákur and Netflix, following the survival thriller Apex, one of the streamer’s major releases planned for the first half of 2026, starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton.
Even before Apex finished shooting, the filmmakers were already discussing a follow-up, which ultimately became ‘The Big Fix’.
Kormákur and Wahlberg have a long working relationship, dating back to Contraband, the director’s first major studio film, and continuing with the action hit ‘Two Guns’.
Ahmed, meanwhile, is coming off a standout year that included strong reviews for the thriller Relay. Wahlberg was most recently seen in ‘The Family Plan 2’, while Ahmed will next appear in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s upcoming film Digger.
