Los Angeles, Jan 23 (.) Timothée Chalamet has received a ‘Best Actor’ nomination at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards, cementing his status as one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars and setting a new Oscar milestone.
At just 30, Chalamet has become the youngest male actor to earn three acting nominations, following his previous nods for Call Me by Your Name and A Complete Unknown, according to Variety.
His latest nomination recognizes his performance as table tennis prodigy Marty Mauser in Marty Supreme, where he is widely considered a frontrunner for his first-ever Oscar. This year, Chalamet is nominated alongside Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent).
Marty Supreme also received multiple other nominations, including Best Picture, Best Casting, Best Original Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Production Design, and Best Cinematography. The nominations follow the film’s Golden Globe win, where Chalamet became the youngest recipient of Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
Directed by Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme tells the story of Marty Mauser, a young man determined to achieve his dream of becoming a table tennis champion.
If Chalamet wins, he will become the second youngest Best Actor winner in Oscar history, after Adrien Brody, who won at 29 for The Pianist.
Final Oscar voting is scheduled for February 26 to March 5, 2026, with the 98th Academy Awards ceremony taking place on March 15.
