New Delhi, Jan 25 (.) The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has constituted an expert committee to review and strengthen the investment framework of the National Pension System (NPS), an official statement said here on Sunday.
The committee, named Strategic Asset Allocation and Risk Governance (SAARG), has been tasked with examining the existing investment guidelines of the NPS and recommending measures to improve long-term returns, enhance risk management and align the framework with global best practices.
The panel will review strategic asset allocation norms, risk governance mechanisms, portfolio diversification and performance evaluation systems under the NPS. It will also study asset class frameworks and governance structures to ensure stability and resilience in retirement savings.
The committee is chaired by Narayan Ramachandran, former CEO of Morgan Stanley India, and comprises experienced professionals from capital markets, asset management and regulatory backgrounds, the finance ministry statement added.
The members include Ananth Narayan, Kalpen Parekh, Prashant Jain, Raamdeo Agrawal, among others.
The expert group has been given nine months to submit its recommendations to the PFRDA. The move aims to strengthen the NPS investment architecture and support long-term retirement wealth creation for subscribers.
