New Delhi, Jan 26 (.) India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on Monday at Kartavya Path, marking the adoption of the Constitution while showcasing its rich cultural heritage, growing military strength, and technological prowess.
The Ministry of Power tableau, themed “Prakash Ganga” (River of Light), highlighted India’s remarkable transformation in the power sector, towards a sustainable, digital, and reliable energy ecosystem that fuels an Aatmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat.
The tableau symbolises the uninterrupted flow of electricity through India’s integrated national power grid, energising growth and development across the nation.
The visual narrative opened with a towering robotic Smart Meter, flanked by wind turbines, representing advanced technology, automation, and renewable energy integration. The central section, themed “Smart Power, Smarter Home”, showcased rooftop solar installations, empowering citizens as prosumers, alongside a transmission tower reflecting robust infrastructure and last-mile connectivity.
The tableau also highlighted the future of clean mobility, featuring an EV charging station and electric scooter, underlining the power sector’s role in enabling sustainable transportation.
The rear segment celebrated India’s renewable energy leadership with hydroelectric dams, geothermal installations, and wind turbines, mounted on coiled electrical cables representing the national power grid.
The display reaffirmed the Ministry of Power’s commitment to delivering reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for inclusive growth, energy security, and a resilient future.
President Droupadi Murmu presided over the celebrations, which were attended by Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, as Chief Guests. Kartavya Path, stretching from Rashtrapati Bhavan to the National War Memorial, was elaborately decorated to reflect India’s remarkable journey as a nation.
