New Delhi, Jan 26 (.) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Republic Day invited a cross-section of peple living in JJ clusters in Delhi, including several women, at the CM Jan Seva Sadan, and had lunch with them. The CM informed them about the approval of infrastructure projects worth Rs 327 given by the Cabinet to improve basic facilities across slum clusters in the national capital.
Out of this, projects worth Rs 144 Cr have already been awarded, she said.
Interacting with the guests, the CM hit out at the previous AAP government, alleging that it looked at slums dwellers as mere vote bank and an atmosphere of fear was created amongst the slum dwellers.
The approved projects include public convenience complexes and fixing of lanes across the JJ clusters using cement concrete (CC).
Meanwhile, Gupta sat with the representatives and held detailed discussions on the issues and requirements of JJ residents, assuring them that the Delhi government is working to improve their quality of life.
CM also shared that government has allocated a dedicated budget of Rs 700 crore for JJ development, through which work on basic amenities, housing, health, sanitation and social welfare is being now put on a fast-track.
The government has also prepared a comprehensive plan to ensure essential works such as drains, roads, toilets, parks and settlement development centres in JJ clusters, which will free the residents from inhumane living conditions.
Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, CEO, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) Rupesh Thakur, along with others were present on the occasion.
