New Delhi, Jan 27 (.) Sunny Deol-starrer ‘Border 2’ has made a blockbuster debut at the box office, capitalizing on the extended Republic Day weekend.
Early reports from Sacnilk indicate a phenomenal Monday collection of Rs 59 crore, boosting its week 1 haul to an estimated Rs 180 crore net collection of India, placing it among the highest first-week collections of all time, while India’s 4 days gross collection was Rs 212.4 crore.
The film, directed by Anurag Singh, released in India on Friday, January 23, began its run with Rs 32.10 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 36.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 54.5 crore on Sunday. Monday’s Rs 59 crore collection marks one of the biggest single-day and Republic Day box office earnings ever recorded.
With strong occupancy, the film achieved 64.27 percent overall Hindi occupancy, including 40.39 percent for morning shows and a peak 79.90 percent turnout for evening shows. Including international earnings of Rs 27 crore, the film’s global total stands at Rs 239.2 crore, surpassing the Rs 200 crore mark in just four days.
While ‘Border 2’ has made a remarkable start, it remains behind Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’, which collected Rs 285 crore in its first week in 2023.
Similarly, the Republic Day record of Rs 70.50 crore set by Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ remains unbeaten. Nevertheless, strong word of mouth and recall value continue to drive the film’s momentum at the box office.
