Manama, Jan 29 (.) The Bahrain Olympic Committee has extended its multi-year partnership with the DP World Tour, ensuring the Bahrain Championship will remain on the tour calendar until at least 2036.
The agreement was unveiled on Wednesday at the opening ceremony for the 2026 Bahrain Championship, which begins on Thursday at the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain. The tournament features a prize fund of 2.75 million U.S. dollars.
The Bahrain Championship follows the Dubai Invitational and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the season’s first Rolex Series event, and is one of seven tournaments in the DP World Tour’s International Swing.
Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, said: “The Bahrain Championship represents an exceptional competitive platform, offering significant prize rewards and a prestigious pathway toward major global competitions.”
“We are honoured to announce the renewal of the agreement for the Kingdom of Bahrain to host this championship for the next ten years. This extension reflects deep-seated international confidence in Bahrain’s professional organisational capabilities, our dedication to sustainable success, and our commitment to strengthening global sporting partnerships,” he added.
Tom Phillips, director of the Middle East at the DP World Tour, said the event has become a key fixture on the calendar and plays an important role within the International Swing.
