New Delhi, Jan 30 (.) Ranveer Singh’s action thriller Dhurandhar has made its Netflix debut following a successful theatrical run, but its arrival on OTT has sparked widespread criticism from viewers.

The film, which was released in cinemas in December 2025, features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal, and revolves around a high-stakes spy mission led by India’s Intelligence Bureau.

Soon after the film began streaming, social media was flooded with complaints about unexpected censorship and content trimming. Viewers expressed frustration over muted dialogues, censored language, and the removal of nearly ten minutes of footage from the Netflix version, despite the film being certified ‘A’.

Many users questioned the decision to censor an adult-rated film on a streaming platform primarily accessed by mature audiences.

One viewer wrote, “You certify the film as A, but you have muted and censored words. Everyone here is over 18, there’s no meaning in watching a film filled with cuts. It takes away the raw, natural vibe.”

Another commented, “Was hoping for an uncut version, but the curse words are muted just like the theatrical cut,” while a third simply asked, “Why are the abuses censored?”

Concerns were also raised about the shortened runtime, with several users noting that approximately ten minutes had been removed, potentially affecting the narrative flow. “Why have you trimmed 10 minutes?” one post read.

‘Dhurandhar’, which draws inspiration from real-life events such as the IC-814 hijacking and the 2001 Parliament attack, had garnered attention for its intense action sequences and politically charged storyline involving a covert operation against a terror network in Pakistan.

Despite the backlash over its OTT version, the film continues to perform well in its eighth week since release and remains a focal point in ongoing debates around streaming standards and content regulation.

Meanwhile, a sequel to the blockbuster is slated for a theatrical release on March 19, where it is set to clash with Yash’s ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups’.
