Pune, Jan 30 (.) Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) has inaugurated a new factory building at its manufacturing facility in Kaniyur, Tamil Nadu, marking a significant milestone in the company’s legacy.
The inauguration coincides with the centenary of India’s first centrifugal pump, which was manufactured and installed by KBL in 1926.
The newly commissioned facility is aimed at enhancing productivity and operational efficiency, enabling the company to cater to rising domestic as well as global demand while maintaining stringent quality standards, said a release here today.
The factory has been developed with a strong focus on sustainability. Nearly 80 per cent of its electricity requirements are met through renewable energy sources. As a result, carbon emissions have been reduced by 122.5 tCO₂e, while Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been cut by 89 per cent. The company also expects estimated annual savings of Rs 21.64 lakh from these efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
As part of its expanding operations, KBL has secured an order to supply 14,000 pumps for petroleum applications. The company has also introduced ATEX-certified submersible turbine pumps, positioning itself competitively alongside global manufacturers.
With a legacy spanning over 138 years, Kirloskar Brothers Limited has played a pivotal role in India’s irrigation, power generation, water supply, and infrastructure development.
The inauguration of the new factory building further underscores KBL’s commitment to manufacturing excellence, sustainability, and strategic growth, release added.
