New Delhi, Jan 31 (.) Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday emphasized the need for developed colonies with proper civic infrastructure to realize the dream of a developed Delhi. She inaugurated projects worth Rs 135 crore for areas in the Mehrauli assembly constituency.
The CM, who was in the Mehrauli area on Saturday, pointed out at the historical significance of the place, and emphasized that her government will work to preserve the heritage, and at the same time connect Mehrauli with moden amenities and facilities.
“The heritage will also be preserved, and the future will be empowered,” she added.
Taking a dig at the previous regime, she alleged that some people merely made the national Capital shine in advertisements.
Gupta said for a long time, not only the heritage of Mehrauli, but also the needs of people remained neglected. Sharpening her attack on her political opponents, Gupta said their politics hovered around the quest of remaining in power. “But now, the politics is all about service, good governance and development,” she added.
Mentioning about the projects launched, CM said these are concrete steps towards ensuring cleanliness, strengthening infrastructure, and making lives of the residents safe also ensuring their dignity.
BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Mehrauli MLA Gajendra Singh Yadav, and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
The CM also visited the Yogmaya temple in the area. “Mata Yogmaya is the divine consciousness of power, protection, and righteousness, by whose grace this city has been receiving spiritual energy for centuries,” Gupta said, adding that, “I pray to the Mother that the light of happiness, health, and prosperity always shine in everyone’s life.”
Gupta also visited and paid obeisance at the Gurdwara Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in the area. “Today, we are also celebrating the sacred Prakash Parv of the Seventh Patshah Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji. On this occasion, heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all,” she stated.
On Friday the Delhi government approved a one-time financial assistance of Rs 500 crore to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) as part of an initiative for cleanliness, pollution mitigation and maintaining hygienic conditions in the city.
The CM said the funds would be used for sanitation works and minor road repairs, including pothole filling and patch repairs, to reduce dust generation across the city.
To ensure long-term strengthening of the sanitation infrastructure, the state government will provide regular annual financial assistance of Rs 300 crore to the civic agency MCD, she added.
