New Delhi, Feb 1 (.) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday criticised the Delhi government over the operation of liquor shops in the capital on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti.
AAP’s Delhi State President, Saurabh Bharadwaj, shared a photograph on social media purportedly showing an open liquor shop in Delhi on Sunday. He alleged that the BJP’s “so-called cultured government” had kept all liquor shops open on the religious holiday, which is significant for the Dalit community.
Bharadwaj further stated that a similar situation occurred last year during the Chhath Puja festival, a major observance for the Purvanchali community. He contrasted this with the tenure of the previous AAP government, claiming that liquor shops were routinely closed on both Guru Ravidas Jayanti and Chhath Puja.
Questioning the BJP’s stance, Bharadwaj asked whether the party only remembers Purvanchalis and the Dalit community during elections for votes.
