Thrissur, Feb 1 (.) The eight-day International Theatre extravaganza, with the theme ‘Voices in this Silence’, ended today with hundreds of theatre enthusiasts from across the country enjoying national and international theatre performances.
The 16th edition of International Theatre Festival of Kerala (ITFOK) featured 23 plays, including nine foreign plays.
The Festival also showcased 14 Indian plays, including five Malayalam.
A total of 48 performances with 245 theatre persons, including 49 from abroad attended.
Anamika Haksar, daughter of former diplomat P N Haksar, was the chief guest at the concluding function at the Sangeeta Nataka Academy this evening.
As a theatre personality, she applauded the Academy for organising the festival in a grand way.
Renowned filmmaker Anand Patwardhan, Gujarati filmmaker Dakxin Chhara and internationally acclaimed artist Maya Thangberge were special invitees.
‘The Frankenstein Project’ from Argentina was the inaugural play.
The Palestine play could not be staged as the troupe was denied visa permission.
The Festival once again positions as a vital meeting ground for global performance, dissent and dialogue.
The nine foreign plays are from Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Armenia, Palestine, Slovakia, Japan and Denmark.
The next ITFOK will be held in 2027, from January 24 to 31.
