Hyderabad, Feb 1 (.) Welcoming the union Budget 2026, Brahmani Nara, Executive Director of Heritage Foods Ltd, on Sunday called it a landmark step towards strengthening India’s dairy and livestock ecosystem.
In a statement, Brahmani said the Budget reflects several strategic priorities highlighted by the dairy industry ahead of the fiscal announcement and goes beyond financial allocations to focus on empowering dairy farmers and strengthening rural livelihoods.
“The union Budget 2026 marks a watershed moment for India’s dairy and livestock sectors. It is not just about numbers, but about empowering millions of dairy farmers, building rural resilience, and enabling sustainable and inclusive growth in a sector that contributes nearly 30 per cent to agriculture GVA,” she said.
Brahmani particularly lauded the government’s decision to scale up veterinary capacity by adding 20,000 professionals through new veterinary colleges, hospitals, laboratories and para-veterinary networks.
She noted that the move directly addresses the acute shortage of veterinarians in the country.
“For our more than three lakh farmer partners, this expansion of veterinary infrastructure, along with enhanced credit-linked subsidies, will be transformative. It will improve animal health, boost breeding outcomes, increase milk productivity and ensure better access to affordable credit for livestock investments,” she added.
Reaffirming the company’s long-term commitment to the sector, she said Heritage Foods would actively collaborate with the government to ensure effective implementation of the Budget’s initiatives and to further strengthen India’s position as a global dairy leader.
