Los Angeles, Feb 2 (.) Indian music composer Ricky Kej made a memorable return to the 2026 Grammy Awards, marking his 11th consecutive appearance at the prestigious ceremony. A three-time Grammy winner and four-time nominee, Kej highlighted both culture and sustainability with his striking ensemble.
He wore a meticulously crafted black achkan featuring an intricately hand-embroidered Asiatic lion motif, paired with a traditional gold dhoti as a tribute to his roots. His look was further accentuated with handcrafted jewellery, including earrings, anklets, and wrist bracelets, designed in collaboration with a Banjara artisan from Rajasthan. Kej revealed that this partnership will soon lead to a new jewellery line.
The Padma Shri awardee spoke about the thrill of returning to the Grammys, saying, “Walking into the Grammys still gives me that rush of excitement every single time. It’s impossible not to feel inspired in a room filled with so much music, energy, and creativity.”
He also praised the growing presence of Indian talent: “This year is particularly special, with an exceptional number of deserving Indian nominees.”
In an Instagram post, Kej highlighted his commitment to sustainability, writing, “Through my commitment towards environmental sustainability and ReWear4Earth, I will be wearing this outfit for multiple events because fashion can be fashionable more than once, and the most expensive clothes that we buy are the ones we wear only once.”
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards are being held at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, hosted by Trevor Noah for his sixth and final time.
