Mumbai, Feb 5 (.) India captain Suryakumar Yadav on Thursday made it clear that India has no issue playing against Pakistan and will travel as per the ICC schedule, while highlighting that any uncertainty around the fixture depends on Pakistan’s decision.
“Our mindset is very clear. We didn’t say no to play, they said no,” Suryakumar said during the captain’s day press meet in Mumbai. “The ICC has announced the fixtures, our flights are booked, and we are going. The rest we will see once we get there.”
The Indian skipper stressed that the team has been officially informed about the match scheduled for the February 15, and preparations are being made accordingly. “Their decision is not in my control. We have been told to play the game on the 15th,” he said.
Suryakumar also pointed out that India have faced Pakistan multiple times at neutral venues. “We played them three times during the Asia Cup at a neutral venue. If we get another opportunity to play in Colombo, we will do so again,” he added.
Acknowledging the political dimension of the issue, the Indian captain said the matter was beyond the players’ control. “It’s not my call. It’s not an easy job; they must be working things out. Since it has come from the government, it is a difficult situation to deal with,” Suryakumar added.
