Mumbai, Feb 6 (.) ‘Sippy Films’, the studio behind Indian cinema classics such as Sholay, is undergoing a major restructuring under Shehzad Sippy, supported by a strategic investment from Kuberans Tech Ventures, co-founded by Jeet Wagh.
The investment, completed at an undisclosed valuation, positions the studio as a character IP-led content company, focusing on both its legacy properties and new original projects.
Sippy Films owns and manages iconic intellectual properties including ‘Sholay’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, and ‘Shaan’, which continue to resonate across generations and platforms. The restructuring aims to expand these properties responsibly while building a pipeline for new content in film and animation formats.
“We are currently focused on developing new as well as select legacy IP in film and animation formats. Kuberans’ commitment allows us to take a long-term and competitive approach in building Sippy Films into a leading character IP studio,” said Shehzad Sippy.
“Our goal is to build a sustainable studio model where our stories, characters, and worlds can evolve thoughtfully across formats and generations.”
Kuberans Tech Ventures, which led the investment, is a sector-agnostic firm with interests in media. “The entertainment market is evolving rapidly, and legacy IP, paired with new creations, holds immense potential. Sippy Films is one of India’s most storied studios, responsible for some of the country’s most iconic cinematic works. The company is now evolving into a modern, character IP-led content company.
