New Delhi, Feb 6 (.) Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming comedy series marks the directorial debut of Konkona Sen Sharma in the web space, with Aditi Rao Hydari (Heeramandi, Jubilee) and Barun Sobti (Asur, Kohrra) confirmed as the lead pair, Variety India has learned exclusively.
Konkona is co-directing the project with Jaydeep Sarkar, known for Feels Like Ishq (2021) and Rainbow Rishta (2023). The director sought a fresh, young pairing and found the perfect fit in Aditi and Barun, two stars with strong individual fan followings in the romance genre who have never shared screen space together.
According to Variety India, while plot details remain under wraps, the show is described as a contemporary romantic comedy set against the vibrant backdrop of South Delhi. Shooting has already begun, and the series is expected to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
Konkona, last seen in Rohan Sippy’s JioHotstar crime thriller series ‘Search: The Naina Murder Case’, returns to directing after three years. She made her acclaimed directorial debut with ‘A Death in the Gunj’ (2017), starring Vikrant Massey and Kalki Koechlin, and most recently helmed a short story in Netflix India’s Lust Stories 2 (2023), as per Variety India.
Aditi Rao Hydari was recently seen in Zee Studios’ silent film Gandhi Talks alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Arvind Swamy.
She will next appear with her husband Siddharth in Netflix India’s Lust Stories 3, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, and also stars in Imtiaz Ali’s romantic series ‘O Saathi Re’ with Arjun Rampal and Avinash Tiwary, as well as Varun V. Sharma’s Parivarik Manuranjan with Pankaj Tripathi.
Barun Sobti will star opposite Hasleen Kaur in Hardik Mehta’s family comedy series Ikatthe and return for the third season of ‘Asur’, scheduled to begin filming in mid-2026.
