Manali, Feb 7(.) The two-day state-level Ski and Snowboard Competition concluded on Friday at the renowned ski slopes of Solang Nala, reaffirming Himachal Pradesh’s growing stature as a hub for winter sports.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from young skiers across various age groups, reflecting the increasing attraction of snow sports among the state’s youth amid ample snowfall this season.
In the Alpine Slalom event for girls, Sandhya clinched the top position, followed by Aanchal Thakur in second place and Tanuja securing third. In the boys’ Alpine Slalom category, Nikhil Thakur emerged victorious, while Yogesh and Pranav Thakur finished second and third, respectively.
The boys’ Giant Slalom saw Prithvi Raj take first place, Sanjay finish second and Drish secure third position. Among girls in the same category, Sashia stood first, Navya second and Muskan third.
In the Under-14 boys’ category, Jatin Thakur dominated the competition, with Som Thakur and Anshul claiming second and third positions, respectively. Among girls, Tanya won gold, followed by Srishti and Kavya Thakur.
In Nordic Cross Country events, Bhavna secured first place, Hemlata second and Jyotika Negi third in the girls’ category. Among boys, Abhinav topped the event, while Anshul and Harsh finished second and third.
Winners were also declared in Under-18, Under-21 and senior boys’ categories, with Sanjana Thakur, Sakshi Thakur and Kanika excelling in Under-18; Parnita, Rachna and Sneha in Under-21 girls; and Sahil, Akhilesh Mahajan and Jatin among boys. In Under-21 boys, Nishant Thakur, Ayush and Saksham Vyas secured the top three positions.
