Surat, Feb 7 (.) Chennai Singams delivered a dominant all-round performance to clinch their maiden Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Season 3 title, defeating Tiigers of Kolkata by 29 runs in the final at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Friday.
The Singams controlled the contest from start to finish in front of a packed crowd and in the presence of ISPL Core Committee members Sachin Tendulkar, Ashish Shelar, Minal Amol Kale, and Suraj Samat, along with Dipak Chauhan, President – Operations.
After winning the toss, Chennai elected to bat first and got off to a flying start through openers Ketan Mhatre and Jagannath Sarkar. Ketan launched an early assault, smashing 28 runs in the second over, while Jagannath chipped in with 14. Although Saroj Pramanik struck twice in the 50-50 over to briefly stall the momentum, Sarfaraz Khan’s timely six kept the scoreboard moving.
Ketan top-scored with a quick 30 off 16 balls, while Sarfaraz contributed 20 off 11 deliveries. Late strikes from Ganesh and Sambhaji, including a massive niner, helped Chennai post a competitive 103/7 in their 10 overs.
In reply, Kolkata struggled to build momentum from the outset. Jagannath Sarkar provided the early breakthrough by dismissing Saroj Pramanik for 11, and Ankur Singh later removed Rajat Mundhe after a brief partnership with Krushna Gawali.
Arish Khan offered some resistance with a brisk 25 off nine balls, but Kolkata were restricted to 74/9, falling well short of the target.
Anurag Sarshar led Chennai’s bowling attack with figures of 3/17, while Sunil Kumar and Ankur Singh claimed two wickets each.
Jagannath Sarkar was named the Most Valuable Player of ISPL 2026 and was awarded a Porsche 911, one of the most significant individual prizes in Indian competitive sport.
Season 3 of the ISPL, India’s pioneering T10 tennis-ball league, continued to grow in stature with standout performances across teams. Vivek Shelar impressed with his pace, picking up multiple hat-tricks, while Kolkata’s Ankit Yadav finished with 16 wickets.
Falcon Risers Hyderabad’s Prashant Gharat topped the run charts with 203 runs, and Ahmedabad Lions’ Nizam Ali claimed 20 wickets. The season’s trials were conducted across 103 centres nationwide, drawing participation from players across the country.
