New Delhi, Feb 7 (.) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed that the film ‘Godaan’, which showcases farmer traditions, rural life, and the importance of cattle, be made tax-free in the state.
The film was released in cinemas across the country on Friday and aims to connect society with Indian culture and traditions.
Speaking on the announcement, the Chief Minister wrote on X, “The cow is not merely a matter of religion and faith, but an integral part of Indian culture, society, and the rural economy. Through such films, positive thinking and sensitivity develop in society, so films like these should be encouraged.”
He highlighted the state government’s efforts in cattle conservation, stating, “Cow shelters are being promoted in the state to ensure better care for destitute and helpless cattle. At the same time, cowherds and livestock rearers are being benefited through various government schemes, so that their income increases and the rural economy is strengthened.”
On the broader cultural vision, CM Dhami added, “The Uttarakhand government will continue to encourage films and creative efforts based on social, cultural, and public interest issues in the future as well.”
