Washington, Feb 8 (.) Singer and actor Teyana Taylor is set to make her feature directorial debut with ‘Get Lite’, which will release theatrically on April 9, 2027, according to Variety.
The film follows a gifted but sheltered dance student who discovers inspiration, love and a sense of family in an unexpected place, the subways of New York City. Storm Reid is attached to star in the project and will also serve as a producer alongside Kenya Barris, Anni Weisband, Robyn Simpson and Bill Karesh of Offbrnd.
The announcement comes during a standout year for Taylor, whose performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another has received widespread critical acclaim.
Last month, Taylor won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and has also earned nominations from SAG-AFTRA, BAFTA and the Academy Awards. The multihyphenate artist also picked up her first Grammy nomination for her latest album, Escape Room.
In related scheduling news, Paramount has also dated upcoming films from directors Jonathan Levine and Potsy Ponciroli, Variety reported.
Fresh off the success of Superman, David Corenswet will star as John Tuggle — the “Mr. Irrelevant” of the 1983 NFL Draft — in Levine’s yet-to-be-titled film, which is slated for a Christmas 2026 release.
Meanwhile, Ponciroli’s The Rescue, a modern-day Western that follows a rodeo cowboy whose skills are tested beyond the arena, will hit theatres on January 29, 2027. The film stars Brandon Sklenar and Hassie Harrison.
