New Delhi, Feb 9 (.) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday launched six new air quality monitoring centres and 35 ‘Vayu Rakshak’ vehicles from the Delhi Secretariat.
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that her government which completed one year in office has given highest priority to pollution control in the capital city.
She said that the six new air quality monitoring centres by the Environment Department will help bridge existing gaps and ensure better tracking of air quality trends across the city.
The Chief Minister informed that the number of air quality monitoring centres in Delhi has been enhanced from 40 to 46, and 14 more centres will be set up in the coming days.
She emphasised that the government is working round-the-clock, 365 days a year, to curb pollution and improve air quality in the capital.
During the event, the Chief Minister and the Environment Minister flagged off 35 ‘Vayu Rakshak’ vehicles. These vehicles will be manned by a team of 100 engineers from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).
The ‘Vayu Rakshak’ vehicles will operate in different parts of Delhi and take action against individuals and establishments found violating pollution control norms, officials said.
