Dubai, Feb 12 (.) Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during his side’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group D clash against South Africa.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) website, Nabi was found guilty of violating Article 2.4 of the Code, which relates to “disobeying an umpire’s instruction during an international match.”
The incident took place at the start of the 14th over of Afghanistan’s innings, when Nabi engaged in a discussion with the on-field umpires regarding a wristband worn by South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi.
Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum fine of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee.
The contest itself ended dramatically, with South Africa clinching a narrow victory after two Super Overs.
Notably, Mohammad Nabi has played 150 T20 International matches, joining the elite group of players with the most appearances in this format. He also holds the record for the most T20s played for Afghanistan.”
