Sri City (Tirupati), Feb 11 (.) Daikin Rechi India Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between Daikin Air-conditioning India Pvt. Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd., Japan) and Rechi Precision Co. Ltd., Taiwan, commenced construction of its new rotary compressor production unit here on Wednesday.
Kanwaljeet Jawa, Chairman and Managing Director of Daikin, performed the bhoomi pooja ceremony along with Sekida Naoto, Director of Daikin-Rechi India, and senior leaders from Daikin and Rechi.
Describing the new plant as a significant milestone in Daikin’s localisation journey under the Prime Minister of India’s “Make in India for the World” vision, Jawa stated: “This facility will further strengthen the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) manufacturing ecosystem and establish a hub catering to both domestic and international markets. The investment underscores our commitment to technology transfer, skill development, and employment generation, while enhancing India’s role in the global supply chain.”
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Andhra Pradesh government and the Sri City management for their outstanding support. Sri City is not just an industrial park—it is a thriving ecosystem that fosters skill development, innovation, and global integration. With our AC sector academy preparing future talent, this plant reinforces India’s emergence as a global manufacturing hub,” Jawa added.
The upcoming facility, spread across 33.10 acres, will have a built-up area of 1,33,000 square meters and will be developed in three phases, the company said in a release here.
In Phase 1, the company will invest ₹547 crores to establish production lines for rotary compressors.
To begin with, the plant will have an annual capacity of 2 million units, which will be scaled up to 9 million units in its final phase. These compressors will cater to all major AC brands, initially serving the domestic market and expanding to exports in subsequent phases.
The project, which marks a major milestone in Daikin’s expansion in India, is expected to generate nearly 500 direct job opportunities in its first phase, while also contributing to technology transfer and strengthening India’s role in the global Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) supply chain.
