Cortina D’ampezzo (Italy), Feb 20 (.) Britain, the last team to reach the semifinals, rallied from behind to stun round-robin leader Switzerland 8-5 and advance to the men’s curling final at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
Switzerland, who recorded nine consecutive wins in the round robin, led 5-4 after seven ends.
However, Britain scored two points in the eighth end and added another two in the tenth to secure a comeback victory on Thursday. In the other semifinal, Canada edged Norway 5-4.
The final between Britain and Canada will be held on Saturday, while Switzerland will take on Norway in the bronze medal game on Friday. After the final women’s round-robin session, the United States and Canada claimed the last two semifinal spots.
The United States edged Switzerland 7-6 in an extra end, while Canada defeated South Korea 10-7.
In Friday’s semifinals, Sweden will face Canada, while Switzerland plays against the United States. South Korea placed fifth overall, followed by Britain, who beat host Italy 7-4 in the final session.
Denmark ranked seventh and Japan finished eighth, ahead of Italy and China.
