New Delhi, Feb 20 (.) A programme was held at the Delhi Secretariat to celebrate the Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. The event was organised by the Tourism department.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with Cabinet Ministers of the Delhi Government, extended greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram and to the nation on the occasion.
Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram attained statehood on February 20, 1987, becoming the 24th and 23rd states of India, respectively.
Addressing the gathering, CM Gupta said the celebration reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat”.
She said Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are strong symbols of India’s cultural diversity and national unity, and the Northeastern states inspire the country through their natural beauty, rich traditions and patriotic spirit.
She highlighted Mizoram’s lush greenery and high literacy rate as a source of inspiration, and Arunachal Pradesh’s Buddhist monasteries, scenic valleys and tribal diversity as having international appeal.
Art, Culture and Languages Minister Kapil Mishra said Delhi, being the heart of the nation, is proud to celebrate the foundation days of all states under the leadership of the Chief Minister.
He termed the occasion another golden milestone in strengthening cultural bonds and said such events help people understand and honour India’s diverse heritage. He also conveyed his best wishes for the peace, progress and prosperity of both states.
The cultural programme featured 16 artists from Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram who presented traditional folk dance performances.
Folk fusion and the Cheraw dance, performed in vibrant traditional attire and accompanied by traditional music, showcased the rich cultural vibrancy of Northeast India at the Delhi Secretariat.
Distinguished guests and attendees applauded the performances and appreciated the artists for beautifully presenting the cultural heritage of both states.
