New Delhi, Feb 20(.) The ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ concluded on Friday evening at Bharat Mandapam here with union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw addressing the media and outlining the scale, outcomes and key announcements from the five-day global event.
The Summit witnessed extensive international participation, underscoring India’s growing role in shaping the global discourse on Artificial Intelligence.
The inaugural session was attended by over 20 Heads of states and 59 ministerial-level representatives, along with government delegations from 118 countries. More than 100 global AI leaders, CEOs and CXOs, and over 500 leading AI experts participated in the deliberations.
According to the organisers, more than five lakh people attended the Summit, reflecting strong global interest in India’s AI trajectory.
The build-up to the event included 550 pre-summit events across 30 countries. During the main Summit days, over 500 side events were organised, making it one of the most expansive multi-stakeholder AI engagements to date.
Addressing the media, the Minister highlighted the global endorsement of India’s responsible and sovereign AI vision and the confidence shown in the country’s technological capabilities.
He said that while participation numbers were significant, the deeper importance lay in the quality of dialogue and the international backing for India’s approach to responsible AI development.
Describing the Summit as a landmark moment for India’s AI leadership, he pointed to strong ministerial engagement, participation of major global AI players and unprecedented youth involvement.
Over 2.5 lakh students contributed to discussions on responsible and ethical AI, resulting in a Guinness World Record.
The Minister further informed that infrastructure-related investment pledges announced during the Summit have crossed USD 250 billion.
In addition, approximately USD 20 billion in deep-tech venture commitments were reported, signaling growing global confidence in India’s AI infrastructure ecosystem.
He also underlined strong international endorsement of India’s sovereign AI model strategy and noted the appreciation received for indigenous AI models developed through frugal innovation, positioning India as a key contributor in the evolving global AI landscape.
