New Delhi, Feb 22 (.) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said that the inauguration of the ‘Namo Bharat’ Regional Rapid Transit System(RRTS) service and the dedication of its entire Delhi- Meerut corridor here is nothing less than a milestone for the national capital and the nearby region, which is going to step up connectivity, making travel faster, safe and comfortable.
CM Gupta expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the inauguration of the RRTS between Delhi and Meerut on behalf of the citizens of the national capital, conveying appreciation for the state-of-the-art project.
She has called the Namo Bharat corridor an outstanding example of the nation’s infrastructure development, adding that the occasion was a matter of pride for everyone.
Thousands of commuters who have tp travel from Meerut and other nearby places to Delhi on a daily basis will now have another option for fast and reliable connectivity with the RRTS.
The CM has said that it will substantially reduce travel time and make daily commuting far more convenient than before.
Notably, with a reduction in the number of private vehicles on the roads, it is expected that traffic congestion may also ease, while carbon emissions will also see a decline.
The Delhi CM has also observed that PM’s vision for the transport sector is anchored in integrated, modern and sustainable development.
PM’s objective goes way beyond just expanding roads, railways, metro systems or air services, and focuses on connecting every region of the nation through multi-modal connectivity, through a safer, faster and affordable transport network.
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, projects like expressways, semi-high-speed rail, Vande Bharat trains, metro expansions, inland waterways and the RRRTS have progressed at an accelerated pace,” Gupta stated.
According to the Delhi CM, the approach of the PM is guided by the principles of saving time, conserving fuel and reducing pollution, thereby boosting economic activity and enhancing the travel experience for ordinary citizens.
“This vision establishes transport infrastructure as a strong foundation for building a Viksit Bharat,” the Delhi CM emphasised.
The project is also expected to contribute in city’s overall development, the CM said, adding that in view of Delhi’s growing population pressure and commuting challenges, the RRTS will make a significant contribution as a mode of transport and modern connectivity.
”Namo Bharat Corridor will infuse new energy into the capital’s public transport system and help save both time and resources for passengers,” Gupta said.
Describing the success of the project as a key example of the infrastructure advancement in the country, the Delhi CM added that it will stimulate economic activity in the Delhi- NCR region, strengthen employment opportunities and accelerate balanced regional development.
