Kathmandu, Feb 23 (.) Flagging “ongoing attempts to disrupt” the electoral process, Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), Chairman and former Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli on Monday asserted that voters must be free to cast their ballots independently in the March 5 general elections in the Himalayan nation.
Addressing the announcement assembly of the party’s National ‘Volunteer Force’ Koshi Province Committee in Damak, Oli pointed to what he described as ongoing attempts to disrupt the electoral process and urged the government to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and intimidation-free environment.
Reaffirming the UML’s commitment to peaceful politics and political stability, he expressed confidence that the party is well-positioned to steer the nation toward prosperity and sustainable development, The Himalayan Times reported.
Oli stated, “No one should envisage the nation’s progress without the UML; it is the UML that will lead the country forward.”
Emphasising that the party established the Volunteer Force to strengthen the government’s overall security framework, he clarified that the initiative was intended not solely for the electoral period but also to contribute to the country’s long-term security and stability. . .
