Hyderabad, Feb 23 (.) Aiming at facilitating door to door service of parcel booking and delivery to the Rail users, the South Central Railway( SCR) thr launch First-of-Its-Kind ‘Rail Parcel App’ during the conclave on ‘Rail Parcel Logistics’ to be held here on Feb 25.
Hyderabad Division, will be the first on Indian Railways to implement this Pilot Project, SCR Chief Public Relations Officer A. Sridhar said in a release here on Monday.
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest and will launch the App, a first of its kind initiative on Indian Railways aimed at providing seamless door to door parcel booking and delivery service for customers opting to transport parcels through trains.
On this occasion, SCR will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore for undertaking study on Freight Logistics Market on SCR.
The App is a comprehensive digital platform which integrates First Mile (pickup), Mid Mile (transportation by Railways), and Last Mile (delivery) services into a unified platform, making parcel movement simpler, faster, and more transparent for customers.
The next gen Rail Parcel App will serve as a one-stop platform for booking, tracking, and managing parcel consignments.
It is designed to bring together industry, individuals, businesses, and logistics partners under a single digital ecosystem that ensures end-to-end transport and convenience.
Features and benefits of App: Online booking and digital payments (online banking, debit/credit cards. UPI); Real time parcel tracking; Seamless end-to-end service from doorstep pickup to doorstep delivery and Automated push messages will be delivered to mobile number of customers at each stage of parcel handling.
Further, SCR has formalized a strategic collaboration with IIM, Bangalore under which IIMB will undertake a comprehensive Freight Logistics Market Study and develop detailed division wise business plans, aimed at enhancing the Rail coefficient of freight traffic across SCR network.
