New Delhi, Feb 27 (.) Global superstar Priyanka Chopra opened up about her much-anticipated return to Indian cinema, showering praise on acclaimed director . Rajamouli during a recent appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday.
The actress is set to star in ‘Varanasi’, a high-profile project directed by Rajamouli, with Mahesh Babu in the lead role.
Talking to host Jimmy Fallon, Priyanka expressed her excitement about returning to Indian films after several years.
“I haven’t done an Indian movie in 6-7 years. I am now doing a movie called ‘Varanasi,’ and it is directed by . Rajamouli, who is one of India’s most amazing and talented directors. It’s gonna be an adventure, I am very excited about it. We have shot it in Imax format and we have been filming it for 14 months,” she said.
‘The Tonight Show’ starring Jimmy Fallon shared the clip from the episode on their X handle, giving fans a glimpse of Priyanka’s enthusiasm.
Last year, Rajamouli unveiled the film’s title and introduced Mahesh Babu’s character Rudhra, who was seen riding an ox while wielding a trishul. Priyanka will portray Mandakini in the film, which is slated for release in April 2027.
Meanwhile, Priyanka was recently seen in ‘The Bluff’, an action-packed thriller set in the Cayman Islands. The film features her performing intense sword and gun sequences opposite Karl Urban and is directed by Frank E. Flowers. The Bluff premiered on Prime Video on February 25, further showcasing Priyanka’s versatility and global appeal.
