Bengaluru, Feb 27 (.) Bengaluru is rapidly expanding its technological identity beyond software services into advanced food technology and smart manufacturing innovation, strengthening its position as a global innovation ecosystem.
The launch of South India’s first Smart Kitchen Experience Centre by Middleby Corporation in Bengaluru marks a significant step in this transformation.
The development reflects the growing convergence of artificial intelligence, IoT engineering, and the commercial food service industry in India, highlighting how global technology companies are now directly entering emerging markets with advanced automation solutions.
The centre showcases the Houno Invoq Hybrid platform, an AI- and cloud-powered commercial cooking system designed to improve precision, consistency, and scalability in large-scale kitchen operations.
The platform integrates artificial intelligence, sensor-driven automation, and cloud connectivity to assist chefs while preserving creative control over cooking styles and flavours.
With more than 1,500 programmable recipes supporting Indian regional cuisines as well as international dishes, the system allows standardisation across restaurant chains while maintaining culinary flexibility.
Features such as ClimateControl sensor intelligence regulate temperature, humidity, and airflow in real time, while SmartChef automation provides guided cooking support for complex menu preparation. The MenuPlanner interface enables multi-dish scheduling, making it useful for high-volume commercial food production environments.
The platform also focuses on sustainability and business efficiency, using HybridSteam technology to improve energy efficiency and reduce water consumption during cooking processes.
Cloud-based connectivity allows restaurant operators to remotely monitor equipment performance, deploy standardised recipes across multiple locations, and maintain automated food safety documentation. This is especially important for India’s rapidly expanding quick service restaurant and cloud kitchen sectors, where operational consistency and cost optimisation are critical.
The broader narrative behind this development is that artificial intelligence is not replacing chefs but acting as an assistive technology that enhances productivity and precision.
With this initiative, Bengaluru is further strengthening its reputation as not only India’s software capital but also a rising global hub for smart kitchen technology, advanced manufacturing, and food-tech innovation.
